I was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. When I graduated high school, it took me a little time to figure out what I wanted to do as a career. I wound up attending community college in Arizona, and loved the small class sizes and close-knit campus community I experienced there.

I had always wanted to live by the ocean, and the day after graduating from community college with my Associate's degree I moved myself and my two cats up to Friday Harbor, Washington. Eventually I decided to return to school to finish a Bachelor's degree and found Western. I loved that even as a larger university, Western maintained a similar sense of community to what I had experienced at my 2-year college. There are so many opportunities to engage with fellow students and faculty members. I hope you find your time here as enriching as I have, and look forward to working with you!
